The case for the small kit.
You don't need a bench full of products to keep an instrument well. Three essentials and a cloth, kept in a drawer near the case, will carry most players through the year. The whole practice of instrument care can fit in a small box.
A fretboard oil to condition the bare wood. A guitar polish to clean and care for the finish. A string balm to clean, condition and protect the strings. And a soft cloth — a real one, kept for this and nothing else. That is a complete kit. Everything past it is refinement, not necessity.
The advantage of the small kit is that you'll actually use it. A single drawer you can reach without thinking becomes part of the routine: a wipe-down after a session, a proper fretboard clean and feed at each string change, and a few quiet minutes spent keeping the instrument in good order. Care that is close to hand gets done.
Keep it simple, keep it near the case, and the instrument will be the better for it — year after year.
