Frequently Asked Questions

What is McFly & Co Fretboard Oil designed for?

Our Fretboard Oil is designed to clean, nourish and condition unfinished fretboards such as rosewood, ebony and similar timbers. It helps restore the natural appearance and feel of the timber while keeping routine fretboard care simple.

Can I use Fretboard Oil on a maple or lacquered fretboard?

No. Our Fretboard Oil is intended for unfinished fretboards and should not be used on maple or lacquered fretboards.

How often should I use Fretboard Oil?

For regular players, we recommend applying Fretboard Oil when changing your strings. Use a small amount and wipe away any excess with a clean cloth.

What finishes can I use Guitar Polish on?

Our Guitar Polish is designed for lacquered guitar finishes, including nitrocellulose finishes. Always spray the polish onto the cloth rather than directly onto the instrument, and if you are unsure about a particular finish, test it first on a small, inconspicuous area.

How do I use String Balm?

Apply a small amount of String Balm to a clean cloth and gently wipe it along the strings. A little goes a long way. Wipe away any excess before playing.

What does String Balm do?

String Balm helps clean and condition guitar strings, leaving them feeling smooth and helping with regular string maintenance. It's especially handy when picking up a guitar that hasn't been played or restrung in a while.

Does each product include a polishing cloth?

Yes. Every Fretboard Oil, Guitar Polish and String Balm includes a premium microfiber polishing cloth.
